It has been four exciting years since Joël Franken (27) graduated at the UT and started his career. After finishing his master Mechinical Engineering and SET, now his today’s goal is creating a valuable contribution to the energy transition worldwide. At Wij Maken Energie & Linthorst Techniek (in Apeldoorn) he is responsible for developing new energy systems (like heatpump technology) that are directly applied into big new and existing buildings and residential areas. During his study he also gained knowledge at the Radboud University by following his minor Business Economics and Financial Engineering. Here he discovered working in this sector does not only require technical skills. Most of the finished projects succeeded because of the right balance between financials results (best business case), technical choices and keeping your stakeholders aligned. During this lunchbreak meeting Joël shares his thoughts about the best energy solutions, using a large scale heat plant as an example, and his journey from student to professional.
