My internship was at Emmett Green, located in Delft. Emmett Green is a company dedicated to driving the energy transition by using its expertise in engineering, financing, asset management and data analysis. Emmett Green’s focus is on energy-intensive industries. They see the complexity of the transition and aims to make an impact in the energy transition. Emmett Green consists of several teams such as consultants, engineering, energy management and finance. My internship assignment was for the energy management team, and I got the task to model and track the degradation of a battery inside an energy management system.

During my assignment I learned a lot about the degradation of Li-ion batteries and I significantly improved my Python skills. My end result was a semi-empirical model which can track the degradation of a battery in operation.

My experience with this company was very positive. The company had trust in my expertise and trusted me to deliver what I promised, but they were always ready to help when I asked. It’s a company with many young professionals and with a pleasant working environment even though most days are work from home. During my internship I felt welcomed and part of the company/team.
