PCV Group 2

During my internship at PCV Group I participated in three projects. One of these projects was an internal project concerning a proposal for a new NTC calibration set-up. Here I generated data through testing and did data analysis to give direction to the requirements of the set-up. I could thus brush up my Python skills and have basically learned how to code in python. Furthermore, I went through a design process to further define requirements based by taking the user and the current calibration protocol into account and improving this to obtain more consistent results. The current calibration set-up is depicted below. This resulted in a system architecture including all components which would be necessary to construct an NTC calibration set-up which would provide reliable calibration results. I have enjoyed this assignment since it combines data-driven design and user-driven design.

The other two projects were external projects issued by clients. These projects both concerned the development of - or parts of - heating systems. One was a coffee dispense system and the other a milk dispense system. In these projects I learned to identify the effect of a parameter on the system and to manipulate the system to obtain a desired dispense. These systems have a lot in common with my energy & Flow profile and thus I have been able to apply a lot of the knowledge I have learned during the Master’s program. I have found working with a team and a client to be very enjoyable. It left a good impression on how projects in the industry are managed and what kind of activities are prominent compared to the academic sector.

In terms of professional skills I have learned how to properly do documentation, set up tests and do postprocessing of results, how to present results properly to the recipient. Furthermore, doing multiple projects requires flexible planning and communicating this to the rest of the team.

Overall, a great learning experience!
