Demcon Multiphysics 3
DEMCONMultiphysics, part of the DEMCONGroup, is a small team of 25 engineers specialized in heat transfer, fluid dynamics, structural mechanics, acoustics and vibrations, electromagnetics and nuclear physics. As the name implies, these specialisations are often combined to create a multiphysics problem. My internship aimed to familiarise myself with COMSOL and more specifically the Orbital Thermal Loads module. This module calculates heat loads that are incident on a satellite that is orbiting the Earth and can be used to determine the temperature distributions during an orbit. During a previous internship, a Python model had been constructed that also calculates the temperature distribution on 1U and 6U satellites. Therefore I investigated what the differences are between both models and what the influence was of adding more detail in the COMSOL model.
During my time at DEMCON Multiphysics, I learned a lot from my assignment and also from talking with the engineers about their projects. My supervisor gave a lot of new insights and was often available for help and questions. Besides my daily supervisor, everyone at DEMCON Multiphysics was very welcoming and everyone wanted to help me if needed!
