As the NS is the biggest passenger railway operator. As such they encounter unique problems. For example, how do you keep a train on a track. Which might sound easier than it really is, as you can see with what happened on the 2nd of november when a metro ended up on a sculpture. In general it is easy to keep a train on track however what do you do when it does not? You investigate how it happened and try to prevent it next time.
A reliability engineer ensures the safety and reliability of an asset and is responsible for it. As such he is responsible for this investigation.
