For most of history, Nijkerk has enjoyed a relatively anonymous existence, at least in international terms. For the Dutch dredging industry, however, this town, on the shores of the Ijsselmeer Lake, is prime territory. For that reason, it is home to Damen Dredging Equipment (DDE). DDE is one of the 33 yards of the Damen Shipyards Group. The DDE yard is dedicated to the dredging industry, specializing in the design, manufacture and supply of dredging tools and services.
