Symposium 2023: Power Up!

On the 12th of December, a new edition of the yearly symposium will take place at the University of Twente, this time organized by both W.S.G. Isaac Newton and S.G. Daedalus! A symposium is an educational day full of lectures and cases provided by interesting companies, this time all related to the theme of the energy transition, with the title "Power Up! - Energize the Future". Lots of information can be found on the Symposium website!

This day is organized as an addition to the education program, as well as being the biggest career event organized by the study associations. Therefore, Bachelor ME years 1 and 2 have no compulsory courses that day to make sure that everyone can join this day! The exact day program can be found on the website, but here is a small summary of what the symposium brings you:

  • Coffee & tea upon entrance and several breaks during the day
  • A filled goodie bag with lots of goodies from both the companies as well as the symposium itself
  • Interesting lectures by Principia, Enexis, TCPM, Chargehyve, Dynteq, and Linthorst that show you all the technical details of the different perspectives on the energy transition
  • A case study by HoSt on combining hydrogen with biomass
  • Company market with even more companies, lots of student teams and several university instances, including a photo booth to take a professional picture for your CV or LinkedIn
  • Luxury lunch by Appèl to enjoy while walking over de company market
  • Speech and Q&A with the mayor of Enschede, Roelof Bleker to ask all questions about the role Enschede plays in becoming more sustainable
  • A closing drink with plenty of free beverages

All this is heavily sponsored by the participating companies, which makes it so that your own contribution is only 5 euros. You can get your ticket on this page! If you want to work on the case instead of two other lectures in the afternoon, make sure to get the free additional case ticket with this link as well! Everyone is welcome at this event, so feel free to invite any other friends or family who would like to know more about this very topical talking point, being sustainable and the energy transition to the future.

YOU CAN PAY BY CASH AT THE SIGN-UP DESK ON THE DAY ITSELF
if you're bank account does not allow you to pay with iDeal. However, you should have tried it so that you're details are in the system and you can easily be added to the event.

Location & parking
The main location of the Symposium will be the Waaier building, which can be accessed on foot via the entrance of Hal B (Hal B, Drienerlolaan 5, 7522 NB Enschede). Bicycles can be parked around the O&O square in the new parking spots. Cars can be parked close by on P2 next to Cubicus. From the entrance, signs will guide you towards the reception table, where we will be happy to welcome you and guide you towards the wardrobe and coffee/tea. The drink at the end of the day will take place in another part of the building, namely in the MBasement and Educafé.

Schedule
The complete day planning can be checked on the website and will also be on posters throughout the venue. Walk-in starts at 9.00 and the opening speech will be at 9.30. It can get busy at the reception, so take this into account and be on time! If needed, it's possible to arrive/leave in between lectures, but please keep in mind that you can only enter the event till 13:30 and are not allowed to enter or leave during a presentation.

What should I take with me?
If you choose to take the alternative afternoon program with the Case by HoSt, for which you need the free additional ticket, you must bring a laptop! For the normal program, nothing is required of you since lunch and coffee/tea will be provided throughout the day. The dress code for a symposium is normally business casual/formal (suit), but it's completely up to you whether you choose to follow this or not.

If you have any questions or remarks about the Symposium, please let us know by emailing info@symposiumpowerup.nl. See you on Tuesday!
