Zero Emmissions Fuels B.V
In this internship, a proof of concept will be given for the implementation of dynamic control in the CO2 (and H2O) capturing system of Zero Emission Fuels B.V (ZEF). ZEF is a Dutch startup that develops a micro-plant capable of producing net zero methanol using energy from the sun and components of ambient air. The objective is to create a self-contained, compact product that can be positioned anywhere, contributing to addressing and providing a solution to the current climate crisis. This internship focuses on the CO2 and H2O capture out of ambient air, and proofs that the production of both components can be adjusted using manipulable variables of the system. This is vital for the implementation of this system and the integration with other subsystems. This internship consists of changing the heating method of the air capture unit mechanically and electronically and executing tests on the new integrated system. After gaining knowledge from these experiments, a controller has been implemented in the system to control the output (production of CO2 and H2O). Adapting the system and implementing the controller has been an enjoyable and educational journey, with a strong emphasis on practical application. The team’s enthusiasm was contagious, and working on such a noble goal has been fulfilling.
