My internship assignment involved the redesign of a precision 4DOF manipulation table, as shown in the image above. The table is part of an Opticentric machine made by Trioptics and is used for aligning lenses. However, due to the low stiffness and cross-talk between all the stages, the table was challenging to work with. Therefore, a more stiff and decoupled flexure design is proposed, aiming to make the work of optical engineers at Demcon Focal easier.

Being a mechanical engineering intern at Demcon Focal is interesting, as it exposes you to various technical fields. Additionally, Focal is part of the Demcon group, allowing you to visit all departments and observe several projects in progress. During your internship, you have a specific assignment to complete. However, gaining a sense of the company culture is equally important.
