Impact Institute
The Impact Institute is a social enterprise dedicated to empowering organizations and individuals to realize the impact economy. It is a spin-off of True Price which was founded in 2012 pioneering methodologies and tools for the measurement and monetisation of impact.
In this internship, I was part of the Energy, Water, and Infrastructure (EWI) consultancy team, They focus on critical areas such as energy infrastructure, energy transition finance, and the built environment, enabling informed decision-making that drives progress toward a more resilient and responsible energy system. They want to make an impact on the energy transition and decided to develop a consistent language for efficiently evaluating various technologies in the energy sector. As a result, the decision was made to calculate the true price of energy.
Over the course of three months, research was done to create a model to measure and monetize the externalities of several energy production systems, including hard coal, oil products, solid biomass, natural gas, solar power, wind energy, hydropower, and nuclear energy using the True Price method and the Impact-Weighted Accounts Framework. The internship gave me insight into how to build models for impact assessment, life cycle analysis and consultancy projects.
Located in Amsterdam, the Impact Institute provides a pleasant and relaxed environment characterized by very smart and mission-driven people. I had the privilege of working alongside open-minded individuals from diverse backgrounds, benefiting from their excellent guidance throughout my internship.
