Reden is an engineering consultancy company with experts in the fields of mechanics, thermodynamics, fluid dynamics and acoustics. My internship focused on the modelling of the energy demand and supply in the Netherlands. This was done using their inhouse developed software Reves Design Space Exploration (DSE). Using Reves DSE, a design space can be set up with equations and relations as input. The software can then solve these rules and calculate a range of possible solutions. As the energy transition is a complicated problem with numerous possible ways to solve it, Reves DSE is a tool which is suited for this. Using simple rules, I modelled this design problem and used Python to visualise results. The model which I developed will be used as a showcase for the Reves DSE software and will be expanded in the future. The assignment was mostly individual, yet the team at Reden was always up for a discussion and offered a pleasant working environment. A bonus is the beautiful building in which the office in Hengelo is located!
