Opening Newton room & corona measures

Opening Newton room & corona measures

After a long summer break and period of working at home, a new academic year is starting. Even though most educational activities will be online, some activities will take place on campus again and there is some room for self-studying available. Moreover, we are very happy to announce Newton is allowed to open again and provide you with a nice cup of coffee during the breaks. However, in order to make sure all of this will still be possible the coming months, we all have to be very careful with the corona rules. If the 1.5 meter is not taken into account of if students stay to long after lecture hours, the Horst will have to close again for students. In the following two documents, Information for ET staff and Guidelines Horst building, all the measures can be found, they were originally written for the staff but are also relevant for students. Please take a look at those documents, the most important things are listed below:

Study Places
It is possible to book a project room or study place in the Horst or other buildings via Roombooker. Due to corona there is limited space, only two people are allowed in one project room. The tables where you can take place are marked with a smiley sticker. Please note it is not possible to study in the hallway workspaces or when you did not make a reservation, this way we will not exceed the maximum building capacity. The only exception is the Hans Kamping-place (in front of the ConcepT room), you can study there during breaks without reservation.

Newton Room
We are finally open again, however, it is a little different then you are used to. You can only come to get some coffee or tea, or when you have a question for the board. Unfortunately, you are not allowed to stay in the room for studying or playing cards. We made a route along the coffee machine and with the second door as exit. We ask you to really stick to this path and keep 1.5 meter from the other people in line. We hope to see you soon in the room or at one of the activities (both physical and online) that we are organizing.

General Horst Rules
It is very important that you only come to the campus / Horst building if you need to be there for an educational activity, a meeting with a staff member for which you were invited or when you reserved a study space. Furthermore, you always have to keep the 1.5 meter into account, disinfect your hands when entering the building and stay at home when you have any (light) symptoms of corona or when you recently visited a orange or red marked country.

We hope all of you will take the measures seriously, otherwise more strict rules need to be made.
Thank you in advance!
