The end of the Year

The end of the Year

With the summer months in sight and people finishing their projects and last exams, we are near the end of the academic year! What a year it has been, from visiting the Pioneering Spirit to enjoying various drinks, Sinterklaas, the TMC beer pong tournament, the chess tournament, and, of course, the Constitution drink. But the year is not over yet! We still have 3 activities for you in store.

What can you expect from Newton in July?

There is, sadly, no lunch lecture in the first week of July. This is because it is exam week. However, if you want to stop your craving for a tasty Subway sandwich and want to organise one of the largest company fairs in the Netherlands, you can attend the ME-student day interest lunch! This event hosts over 200 companies, and you will work with our sister association, Simon Stevin. Not only is it a cool event, but you will come into contact with many different companies, and companies are eager for people who have organised such a large event.

Newton wouldn't be Newton if we didn't have any big activities in store for you. That's why we host 2 activities on the last day of the module! If you finish your resit on linear algebra, and stumble out of the exam room. You can enjoy the amazing taste of a free beer with a live DJ at the Achterhorst while watching or participating with a friend in an obstacle course. But there is a catch! You will have to complete the parkour while carrying an empty keg! That is why the activity is called the KEG-A-THON. If you win the event, you will be awarded scenic flight tickets for your whole team! There are still some spots left to be claimed, so be fast, otherwise you are already out of the running.

But it doesn't end there; after you have endured the obstacle course, you can sit down, relax, and enjoy the end-of-the-year BBQ. This event is an annual event where everyone from Newton comes together for the last talks and drinks. So make sure to be there!

For some, that was the last day; for others, not. That is why Newton stays open from 10:00 to 16:00 during the resit weeks! We will support you with coffee and some small talk for that one last exam you have to do!

The board wants to wish you a great holiday, and we will see you back in the kick-in or in the Newton room!
