Exams, exams and more exams.
End of module 3
To each module comes an end, and the same goes for module 3. With courses as thermodynamics 2, heat transfer and FEM, it is arguably the hardest module. Besides courses, this module includes the hardest projects that you will face in your bachelor's Mechanical Engineering. In module 3, you will design your own basic power plant. During this project you will learn about material choices for high temperature/pressure applications, thermodynamic cycles, and the sustainability of a power plant. In module 7, you will create an anti-icing mechanism inside airplane wings. On high altitudes, the humidity of the air and the cold environment cause the wings of an airplane to freeze. To stop this from happening, smart heating systems are built into the wings. The students have to do calculations on the flow around the wings and the heat transmission in the wings.
All in all, it is a hard module, but Newtons project- and study nights helped you with your questions, and you eventually passed all the exams.
A fresh new beginning
While we say goodbye to module 3/7/11, the next module has already started. During this module, you can distract yourself from your studies with the StAf tournament. StAf is a football competition between many study associations and student teams. The first matches have already been played by two of the three Newton teams. Newton 2 against Paradoks 2 and Newton 1 against Deddels on the 28th of April. The first match was fierce, but Paradoks was found too good for our fantastic B-team. During the second match, the Newton 1 team completely demolished our fellow basement association's only team by beating Deddels with a final score of 5 to 1. If they continue this trend, you will certainly find Newton fighting for the title.
Come by to cheer the teams up, drink some beer, or play in one of the upcoming matches yourself!
