The Birthday of W.S.G. Isaac Newton
On September 30th, W.S.G. Isaac Newton celebrated its 60th birthday! To mark the occasion, the Newton Room treated everyone to cake. Throughout the afternoon, many members stopped by for a slice and a quick chat. The celebrations don’t stop there, on October 2nd, Newton is also hosting a birthday drink!
But that’s not all. This milestone year also marks the 12th Lustrum: “The Clock Strikes Twelve.”
The Clock Strikes Twelve
As many of you know, we are right in the middle of our Lustrum celebrations. The festivities began on the 23rd of September with a grand opening. A spectacular beunparade featured all kinds of creative vehicles, followed by the official opening stunt. To everyone’s amazement, a plane flew overhead and skydivers descended dramatically, landing flawlessly. The evening continued with drinks, after which Lisa Gommers gave a talk reflecting on activities from the past few years. The atmosphere was fantastic, and the Lustrum committee truly outdid themselves!
And that was just the beginning. Out of the twelve total events, four have already taken place:

Lustrum Movie Night: Members enjoyed Ford vs Ferrari under the stars, with a BBQ beforehand to set the mood.

Ziplining from the Horst: On Friday the 26th, more than 60 daredevils leapt from the 13th floor of the Horst building in a thrilling zipline event! Right after, YER hosted a training session, followed by free tickets for the FC Twente match against Fortuna Sittard. In a nail-biting game, Twente secured a 3–2 victory.

Car Smashing: A week later, members suited up, grabbed sledgehammers, and had the rare chance to demolish cars—an unforgettable experience!

All in all, the Lustrum has already been an amazing success and we’re only halfway through! Make sure to grab tickets for the upcoming events, and save the date: October 23rd, when we’ll close the Lustrum with a spectacular final party.
